Being within the industry of Colorado Springs Photography, I have had the privilege of witnessing countless heartwarming moments. It brings such joy to my life to be able to meet such amazing people who I get to connect with and hear their love stories! A love story that I got to witness recently and had the absolute honor of photographing, was Carter’s proposal to his girlfriend, Kelles, at Cheyenne Mountain here in Colorado Springs.

Before the proposal

To begin, I remember being so excited when I read Carter’s inquiry coming in through my email inbox. Planning for proposals brings such excitement! I met with Carter over a phone call, and I loved hearing all about the vision he had for his proposal to Kelles. I could instantly feel the passion and love in his voice during our phone call about how much he cares for Kelles. Carter shared with me their story of how they met working together in the same hospital, and how their relationship has blossomed since!

Carter also communicated to me that there was this trail located at Cheyenne Mountain Park that he and Kelles would often spend time at together. He envisioned proposing to Kelles at this trailhead, as it was a meaningful place to their relationship. It was a perfect location! In addition, Carter shared that he and Kelles have had planned an overseas trip to Spain, and that he wanted to propose to her before they left so that they could celebrate their engagement together adventuring around Spain! How exciting!

On the day of their proposal, mother nature of course didn’t make it easy for us. Carter and I both were messaging each other every so often the day of checking in on the weather, and coming up with a backup plan for a different location just in case! The day was on and off with storms and rain all day. Fast forward to that night, let’s just say that the proposal could not have been more magical, and the rain held off just in time! Yay! I was hiding behind a bush waiting for Carter and Kelles to start walking up on the trail, and once I saw them walking up together holding hands, I was holding my camera ready with such excitement!

As your Colorado Springs Photographer, I thrive on capturing authentic and romantic moments frozen in time! Carter’s proposal to Kelles was so heartfelt and thoughtful in every way. One of the most compelling aspects of photographing proposals is the element of surprise! I loved seeing how surprised Kelles was in the moment. As Carter dropped down to one knee to reveal the ring, Kelles’s reaction was nothing short of pure joy and happiness, as she was caught entirely off guard by Carter’s heartfelt proposal to her. I found myself tearing up behind the camera while capturing these moments, and I couldn’t stop smiling! We then spent the rest of the night capturing some couples portraits of them together to celebrate their Engagement!

Carter and Kelles, I can’t thank you both enough for allowing me to partake in this special moment. I truly felt so very honored to capture these joyful and romantic moments that you both will be able to look back on and cherish forever. Your engagement marks not only the beginning of your journey towards marriage, but also a testament to your shared love for adventure together ahead! Congrats you two!
