What a delight it was to be the Wedding Photographer for McClelan and Jacob’s intimate Colorado Springs wedding day! I have loved getting to know these two through our time working together, and seeing their bond and love for each other! Being there to capture every second of their day as they were joined together as husband and wife was an amazing privilege and a memory I feel truly blessed to have been a part of!
Their Colorado Springs wedding day started off with getting ready photos at their church. They both attend here, and it holds a significant and meaningful place in their hearts! I always love the excitement and anticipation that these first look photo moments hold!
Their wedding colors were white, gold, and dusky blue. Such a gorgeous combination. These colors gave a light, fairytale quality to the images from this fall wedding day in Colorado!
Getting ready photos are also the perfect time to capture detail shots like the bride’s bouquet, the invitations, or the rings. I always include these kinds of shots. But if there are other special details you’d like, I’m always happy to incorporate them! Any special details that hold meaning in your love story!
The groom, Jacob, requested me to capture a specific detail photo – a photo of the items in their shared memory box. They have kept this to cherish and remember all the details in their relationship. These items are a reminder of when they first met, special dates, and so on. I felt so privileged to capture such a beautiful and personal detail photo!
Once we had captured our detail images, it was time to transition into the First Look. (One of my favorite parts!) They had chosen a small, woodsy park about five minutes from the church, and it was so lovely!
We did the First Look along an unpaved path overhung with trees that gave the prettiest dappled light to our images. It was such a special moment! Jacob could not take his eyes off his beautiful bride, McClelan. And when they greeted each other it was with the warmest embrace—just holding each other in that moment and soaking it in together. This is what I always hope for my couples: that you can just be in the moment and enjoy each other’s love. It was truly a perfect moment and there were even a few tears shed…some of those may have been mine, haha.
After the First Look, we headed back to the church to get ready for the wedding ceremony! I adore church weddings and the chapel was so beautiful. I always make sure I’m in a great position to capture the groom’s expression as he sees his beautiful bride walking down the aisle to him.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as McClelan and Jacob made their promises to each other, and everyone was cheering them on as they exited down the aisle—now as husband and wife!
Jacob and McClelan had chosen to have a morning reception to celebrate with all their loved ones. For afternoon and evening weddings, I’ll usually capture wedding party photos before the ceremony. For a morning wedding, these family and group portraits often fit better between the ceremony and the reception, which is what we did this time.
After portraits, the only thing left to capture was their reception, with a lovely brunch meal! It was a wonderful experience as toasts and prayers were exchanged to celebrate the bride and groom. To send warm love and best wishes their way!
McClelan and Isaac, I hope you’ll allow me to send my own love and heartfelt wishes for every happiness as the two of you embark on this next stage of your journey together! It was truly an honor to capture your intimate Colorado Springs wedding day, and to document this chapter of your love story. Here’s to both of you, and to many wonderful memories yet to come!!
Warmly,
Whitney Marshall
