It was such an honor to document the winter elopement of this beautiful Kurdish couple back in March! Lubna and Herman shared with me that they are both very traditional people, and also more on the introverted side, which was why they had chosen to do the elopement route. They also love adventure, travel, and exploration! So an elopement at Glen Eyrie Castle here in Colorado Springs felt right up their alley for an intimate and adventurous wedding day escape.
Their elopement day colors were baby blue and navy blue, which was perfect for the theme that Lubna and Herman had told me they wanted: Timeless, classic, fairytale vibes! I can’t think of a better location than Glen Eyrie Castle to help bring that vision to life.
Their elopement day started with getting ready at their houses, where I got all those pretty detail shots like rings, shoes, and bouquets. Then meeting up at Glen Eyrie Castle in the afternoon to start their elopement romantic adventure together!
The day was a bit windy during the winter season here in Colorado, but you can hardly tell in the photos! Lubna and Herman handled the strong Colorado winds like champs. And from an artistic standpoint, I can’t complain: It gave me the chance to get those gorgeous flowing-veil shots of the bride!
Elopement doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be just the two of you, without any family or friends. These days it can refer to a variety of intimate wedding options. Lubna and Herman wanted a small and personal ceremony, but they also wanted their close family there to celebrate the occasion with them! These small-group family formals were just beautiful.
Lubna and Herman wanted to do a private first look at Glen Eyrie Castle before the ceremony. This is always one of my favorite parts! I love capturing the genuine emotions of the moment, plus some romantic portraits of the two of them after!
Glen Eyrie Castle made the most picturesque setting for our couples portraits! I love the warm color of the stone and the way it’s nestled right up against the hill.
To end the photoshoot, we drove down the road to Mesa Overlook in Colorado Springs to capture their private vows and a few more beautiful portraits of the two of them–now as a married couple! It was the perfect end to an absolutely beautiful winter elopement at Glen Eyrie Castle.
I feel so blessed to have been able to capture this amazing couple’s special day in one of the prettiest locations in Colorado Springs. I was even more delighted when they left a review sharing how much they enjoyed their experience: “Whitney is an amazing photographer!!! Everything was so seamless and easy, and we are so in love with the photos!!”
Thank you so much, Lubna and Herman! I truly couldn’t be happier for you both and wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!
