When Brenda and Scott got in touch to tell me they were planning to elope in Colorado Springs I was so excited! If you ask me, there’s nothing more romantic than an elopement—and as a wedding photographer, I like to think I know a little something about romance!
This wonderful couple met online on a dating website and fell head over heels for each other—and I can completely see why. They are both beautiful souls and I’m so happy that they were led to each other.
Scott and Brenda are from Michigan, but wanted to celebrate their marriage together in a more relaxed and intimate environment, just the two of them. I love this! While I absolutely adore weddings and have so much fun capturing them, there’s no question that a traditional wedding can be a lot, and it’s not for everyone. It’s a beautiful thing when couples are on the same page about what they want their wedding day to look like and work together to customize it so they can truly enjoy this incredibly special occasion.
For this lovely couple, Garden of the Gods here in Colorado Springs was the perfect place for the quiet, intimacy, and sweeping views they envisioned for their wedding day. They stayed at the Garden of the Gods Resort (one of my all-time favorite places for weddings—check out more favorites here), which is just 5 minutes down the road from the park, making it the ideal location to stay during their visit.
First Look at High Point Overlook in Garden of the Gods
They spent the morning getting ready, and then shared a First Look together at High Point Overlook (one of the unmissable spots, if you ever decide to visit yourself!) This was the sweetest moment, with some tears shed and the biggest embrace! Their excitement and love for each other was palpable and it was such an honor to capture that moment.
Then it was time for Brenda and Scott to share their vows. I loved the beautiful and elegant vow books that they chose for their elopement day.
After their vow readings we adventured around the park to capture some romantic just-married portraits for the two of them to look back on and cherish forever. (And to share with family when the time was right! I’ve actually been sitting on this session for a few weeks, as I didn’t want to post any images until they had shared the happy news with their families.)
We also stopped at Mesa Overlook on our way back to the resort for just a few minutes to capture a few more beautiful portraits celebrating their love and elopement celebration. It was a perfect day and exactly what Scott and Brenda had been hoping for when they planned their elopement. They were in awe of the views and were able to take the time to soak in the Colorado beauty around them in a way that just wouldn’t have been possible if we had been on a traditional wedding timeline.
I always send a few sneak peek photos out to my couples to give them a little preview of what to expect from their wedding gallery. It takes time to edit an entire photo gallery and I don’t want you to have to wait!
Here’s what they said: “Whitney, these are absolutely beautiful! We have looked at the photos multiple times from the preview you sent, and we are so very excited to see the rest of the photo gallery! We can’t thank you enough!!”
It was truly such a pleasure and privilege to capture this beautiful elopement ceremony for Brenda and Scott. I know they will treasure the memories of this day forever, and it’s a beautiful memory for me to know that I was a tiny part of helping them to begin their adventure together in the way that was perfect for them!
