Hey There, Friend! Are you looking at planning your Engagement Photoshoot in Colorado Springs, Colorado or nearby!? First off, Congratulations! I promise you have made a great choice! The state of Colorado itself has so many beautiful and epic locations to capture your engagement memories at. In fact, Colorado Springs, Colorado is one of those locations. The city of Colorado Springs offers the perfect background for capturing your own love story. As a matter of fact, to make the most of your Engagement Photoshoot, please see below some helpful tips and tricks that I would love to share with you:
As most Photographers will agree, the best time for lighting for your photoshoot is early in the morning near sunrise time, or within 1-2 hours of sunset time in the afternoon! These time frames offer the best lighting scenarios for your photoshoot and to ensure even lighting. Photoshoots in the mid day can offer harsh lighting situations, and often don’t make for the best photos; so lighting is key! In addition, by scheduling your photoshoot early in the morning or later in the afternoon, this helps to avoid crowds.
Choosing the location for your Engagement Photoshoot can seem overwhelming at first. There are a lot of locations to choose from within the state of Colorado, but that is where I come in handy. In fact, I provide all my clients a ‘Location Guide‘ that will walk you through the most common locations here in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas nearby. This guide provides photos and a little description of each location too. Colorado Springs offers many locations such as: Garden of the Gods, Painted Mines Interpretative Park, Cheyenne Canyon State Park, Red Rock Open Space, and many more! Please keep in mind, that some of these locations can get busy during the weekends. A week day photoshoot may be best to avoid the large crowds.
Bringing props and personal touches to your Engagement Photoshoot can make your photo gallery more unique and memorable! I always love to see the props and personal touches that each of my couples brings to their photoshoot. They are often unique to them as a couple, and it tells their love story! For example, some props might include: Signs with your wedding date, favorite sports or hobbies, blankets, champagne or wine to celebrate, or even your sweet furry friends! In addition, some other personal touches could be clothing too! I always suggest to be aware of weather conditions here in Colorado, and dress accordingly. Layers, comfortable shoes, and accessories like jackets, scarves, or hats can add personal touches and warmth to your photos in your gallery as well!
Don’t let the nerves get the best of you! My goal as your Photographer is to take those nerves away, and just let the environment be us friends hanging out together in an epic location here in Colorado! Your photoshoot should feel like another date night and that you are just enjoying each other’s company. I’m all here for the constant laughter and smiles! In fact, I have had so many of my couples state to me after their photoshoot, that their nerves went away immediately during the photoshoot. Due to the laid back environment for their photoshoot I created, and how fun I made the experience for them! In addition, another helpful tip I’d like to share, is to stay moving! In detail, I mean I tell my couples to always stay moving whenever possible. For example, if you are hugging one another, try to sway gently side to side together or give one another a nice back rub! Believe it or not, these small movements help to create the intimacy feel in your photos!
To conclude, I would love to end this blog post with this helpful tip for your Engagement Photoshoot in Colorado Springs. I highly suggest making a day or evening out of your session! To start, you can listen to your favorite music together in the car on the way to the photoshoot, you can write love notes to each other to read during your session, or you can bring your favorite beverage to celebrate the occasion! To add to that, you are already getting dressed up for your photoshoot, so why not plan an amazing and romantic date night for just the two of you after!? Your Engagement Photoshoot is all about the love the two of you share and your love story. So taking the time after to celebrate that love together, I feel is the perfect way to end the day or night!
